Laurel Mundy Illustration
Laurel Mundy
I'm a wildlife & nature illustrator and I love to create art featuring native wildlife, plants, and scenery of the Pacific Northwest—in the form of original illustrations, cards, art prints, stickers, wood ornaments, calendars, and other small gifts. From my background as a naturalist and biologist, my work is as scientifically accurate and locally appropriate as possible, while also highlighting local or regional conservation issues. I am inspired by my trips around the west looking for birds as well as visiting National Parks and other beautiful natural areas. Many of my illustrations of local sights are painted in-the-field while hiking. Each year I donate a small portion of proceeds from my sales to conservation organizations like Conservation Northwest, American Bird Conservancy, and others. I create all the illustrations for my products in my tiny home studio in the woods of western Washington. Most of my work is watercolor, ink, digital paintings, or some combination of the three. I try to keep my production process as sustainable as possible. That is why my cards are printed on 100% recycled paper, paired with a 100% recycled envelope, and my cards, art prints, and original art are packaged in certified compostable "plastic" sleeves. When framing artwork I always try to use utilize scrap wood salvaged from other projects.
